Homemade Buttermilk

Many recipes call for buttermilk. This is the liquid left behind after churning butter out of cultured cream. Many people think that buttermilk is rich in fat (specially butter) compared to whole milk. In fact, there is no butter in buttermilk and its lower in fat than milk.
Homemade buttermilk is lightly bitter, its flavor is very similar to yogurt, and some people like it really cold. Its lightly thicker than milk, but not as thick as cream.
You need 1 litter of milk to produce 1 cup of buttermilk. Here we have a recipe for you to make it at home.
