Fish tacos are a fresh and flavorful meal that comes together effortlessly, making them perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a casual gathering. In this recipe, tilapia fillets are coated with Mondu’s Fajita Seasoning blend, then cooked in the air fryer until tender and lightly crisped.

They are served in warm tortillas with a creamy avocado mash and a crunchy slaw, creating the perfect balance of textures and flavors. The combination of smoky spices, buttery avocado, and refreshing slaw makes these tacos irresistible. As a finishing touch, we added Mondu’s Habanero Pineapple Hot Sauce.

If you don’t have an air fryer, you can easily pan-cook the fish instead. Simply heat a drizzle of oil in a skillet over medium heat, then cook the seasoned tilapia for about 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden brown and flaky. This method delivers just as much flavor with a slightly crisp exterior. Whether you choose the air fryer or stovetop, these tacos are an easy way to bring a taste of coastal freshness to your table.

Air Fryer Fish Tacos

Makes 3-4 servings

Ingredients, for the fish:
1 lb tilapia
2 ½ teaspoon Mondu Fajita Seasoning
½ teaspoon Mondu granulated garlic
¼ teaspoon cumin
½ teaspoon sea salt
½ tsp cracked pepper
Olive oil, for brushing

Ingredients, for the cabbage slaw:
2 ½ cups cole slaw mix
3 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 tablespoon lime juice
½ teaspoon Mondu granulated garlic
⅓ cup chopped cilantro
½ teaspoon sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon cracked pepper

Ingredients, for serving:
2 avocados
Salt and pepper
juice from 1 lime
6-8 corn or flour tortillas
Mondu Habanero Pineapple Hot Sauce, to taste

Directions:

  1. Spray the air fryer basket with oil. In a small bowl, mix the spices, salt and pepper.
  2. Pat fish dry, brush with olive oil on both sides. Generously cover the fish with the spice mix on both sides and gently press it into the fish
  3. Preheat air fryer to 200ºC. Cook the fish for about 8-10 minutes or until opaque and easily flakes. Internal temperature should reach 145°F.
  4. While the fish cooks, toss together the ingredients for the cilantro lime slaw. Adjust the salt to taste or add more lime juice as desired.
  5. Mash the avocado, add lime juice, salt and pepper and set aside.
  6. When the fish is cooked, remove from the air fryer basket. Cut into small pieces and set aside.
  7. To assemble, place 2 tortillas on a flat surface and spread the avocado mash on half of the tortillas. Arrange a few fish chucks and top with some cabbage slaw. Sprinkle with cilantro and serve with lime wedges and Mondu Habanero Pineapple Hot Sauce.  Enjoy!
