Happy Hour Pairing: Terraza de Los Andes Reserva Malbec & Pear & Blue Cheese Crostini

This Malbec from Mendoza is fresh and intensely fruity with notes of black and red fruits such as blackberry, plum and strawberry, along with aromas of violet and spices. It has a light medium body, with pleasant tannins, very easy to drink.

It is a versatile wine that can pair wonderfully with grilled or stewed beef or pork. It combines very well with different types of pasta with tomato sauce and chocolate desserts, with red fruits, nuts or coconut.

We love the combination of cheese and wine, and this Malbec combines very well with cheddar, asiago or gouda cheese and hard cheeses that are not very salty. It also pairs well with blue cheese, which we love and is the one we chose for our recipe.

So that you can try the delicious combination for yourself, we bring you this recipe for blue cheese and pear crostini to pair with a glass of Terrazas de Los Andes Reserva Malbec that you can find in Vinoteca stores.

Pear & Blue Cheese Crostini

Ingredients:
1 loaf of french baguette bread
extra-virgin olive oil
1 wedge of blue cheese
1 Bosc pear, thinly sliced.
1 small bunch of fresh thyme
honey, for drizzling

Instructions:

  1. Slice bread into thin diagonal slices.
  2. Heat pan on high heat. Brush each side of bread slices with extra virgin olive oil, then place on hot pan until lightly browned, about 1 minute per side.
  3. On each still-warm toast, spread about a teaspoon or two of cheese. Top with a slice of pear, then arrange on a platter. Drizzle with honey and scatter fresh thyme on top.
