Happy Hour: Acatenango

We were happy to try out this original recipe when it was presented to us. Visually, the Acatenango cocktail has two layers with different colors that you can achieve at home by following the recipe and pouring instructions we detail for you. The separation will take place naturally because the liquids have different densities. The addition of simple syrup to the first part will keep the coffee and hibiscus juice on top.
As far as flavor goes, we loved it! It’s an easy drinking cocktail with an interesting combination that complements the tasting notes of Volcán de Mi Tierra Cristalino Tequila, which include cooked agave, tobacco, dried fruits, chocolate and vanilla.
To make the hibiscus and chocolate juice, you can brew some strong hibiscus tea (1 cup) and add 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa. We found that the mixture dissolves best when using cocoa rather than chocolate.
Cheers!

1.5 oz Volcán de mi Tierra Cristalino Tequila
1 oz Hibiscus & Chocolate juice*
1 oz simple syrup
1 oz of Acatenango coffee
0.5 oz lime juice

- Resting the cocktail spoon on the ice and touching the wall of the glass with it, slowly pour the coffee. Then, in the same way, pour the hibiscus & chocolate juice.
- The cocktail will have two colors or layers, the first part with tequila, simple syrup and lemon, and the second part with coffee and hibiscus juice.
- Garnish with a dehydrated orange wheel.
Note:
- To make the hibiscus and chocolate juice, mix 1 cup of hibiscus tea (steeped for enough time to make it a bit strong) and 1 tbs of unsweetened cocoa.
