Happy Hour: Smoky Rosemary-Strawberry Cocktail
This post is also available in / Esta entrada también está disponible en ESPAÑOL (SPANISH)
We have another fresh and flavorful tequila cocktail you can try at home. This is an easy-to-build cocktail, just add the ingredients to a glass filled with ice and enjoy! But, there is a step that sets it apart from other cocktails: we smoke a rosemary sprig for each glass which helps release the aroma that combined with the grapefruit juice and tequila helps give off some mezcal notes to this drink.
You can use a lighter or a large match to smoke the rosemary sprig. The idea is to gently heat the sprig, without actually charring it or lighting it up. This will release the aromas which will blend beautifully with the grapefruit juice.
We used Volcán de Mi Tierra Blanco a premium tequila that features a mix of herbal, citrus, and spicy notes, as well as fruity notes from cherries, pear, and peach.
You can find Tequila Volcán de Mi Tierra at Vinoteca stores.

Smoky Rosemary-Strawberry Cocktail
Serves 1 cocktail
Ingredients:
1.5 oz Tequila Volcan de Mi Tierra Blanco
1 oz White Cranberry Juice
1.5 oz grapefruit juice
2 Halved Strawberries
1 oz simple syrup
1 Rosemary Sprig
Instructions:
- Fill a glass with ice and add the strawberries
- Add simple syrup, tequila, white cranberry juice, and top with grapefruit. Give this a stir with a cocktail spoon.
- For the last step, grab a lighter or large match and move the rosemary sprig quickly over the flame just for it to release its aromas, you don’t want to char it. Add a sprig or two to your cocktail for an aromatic, smoky component to complement the grapefruit juice.
