Valentine’s day is approaching, and to celebrate it we are sharing some inspiration so you can put together a picnic basket for two with ingredients that are easily available and that perfectly complement a bottle of Chandon Délice.
This sparkling wine is from the Mendoza region in Argentina, with aromas of dried fruits and spices. On the palate it is semi-sweet (demi-sec), fruity, and with a clean finish. Traditionally, demi-sec sparkling wines are ideal for pairing with desserts, so in our basket, we have included some delicious eclairs, their creamy center goes very well with this wine.
In savory combinations, an accompaniment of creamy cheese, curries, or well-seasoned dishes such as Jambalaya (rice with spices and spicy sausage) and also, an odd combination that we want you to try: popcorn with salt. If you have some cayenne pepper on hand, or other favorite spicy seasoning, sprinkle some on your popcorn. You’ll see!
In our basket for two, we have included:
- Baguette bread
- Cream Cheese with spices
- Gouda Cheese
- Black Forest ham
- Popcorn with salt and cayenne pepper
- Strawberries
- Pears
- Nuts
- Chocolate (preferably milk chocolate, dark chocolate’s bitterness could ruin our sparkling wine’s flavors)
- Eclairs
You can find Chandon Délice and most items for the picnic basket at Vinoteca stores.
