Happy Hour: Bourbon Kentucky Mule

You are probably more familiar with the Moscow Mule, which is a drink that is built and served in copper mugs and is made with vodka. For this variation, we will use bourbon to make a Kentucky Mule. It carries that name because bourbon is produced in the USA, mostly in the state of Kentucky.
Because of its nature, bourbon has an oaky tasting note that is complemented wonderfully with the spicy ginger notes from ginger beer, which is not to be confused with ginger soda, but you can use either one for this cocktail. The difference is that ginger beer has a more natural and strong ginger flavor and is made by fermentation. The other ingredients include lime juice, which is preferably freshly squeezed for optimal flavor.
For this particular drink, we used Bulleit Bourbon: medium amber in color, notes of spice and sweet oak in the nose, and maple, oak, and nutmeg tasting notes. It has a long and satiny finish with a light toffee flavor, and is a great option for mixing cocktails! In Guatemala, you can find this brand at Vinoteca stores.
