Little Foodies: Chocolate Banana Smoothie

A lot of kids have after school activities, and with the rush of trying to get to where they need to be on time, we have to take a snack for them to eat, or something to drink in the car. The recipe we want to share with you this time is a hearty smoothie made with chocolate, banana, and oats.
Usually, we make these types of smoothies in a blender, but it is much easier and fast to make them with an immersion blender. When you are done, you just pass it under running water and you’re done!
You can prepare the smoothie with fresh or frozen bananas. If you use frozen bananas the texture will be thicker, in this case, it would be better to use a regular blender. You can adjust the quantities of the ingredients to reach the desired consistency. It’s important that the child likes the consistency for them to drink it, so you can thin it out with more milk if needed.
To sweeten it, we recommend using honey. The bananas are usually sweet enough, so just a little honey is enough The cocoa you should use is the one used for baking, unsweetened. Since this smoothie includes oats, you should drink it right away, otherwise, it will thicken up as time passes.
At Almacenes Siman, we found the immersion blender, there are different models you can choose from. They also have a wide variety of drinking bottles, we liked this one with an incorporated straw, which is perfect for smoothies. We loved this cat pattern on the fabric snack bag, the size is perfect for take-along items.
