Little Foodies: Crab Croissandwiches Filled with Tuna
This post is also available in / Esta entrada también está disponible en ESPAÑOL (SPANISH)
We really like to eat tuna at home, it’s a lifesaver when we need to fix up something quick to eat for dinner. Prepared with mayonnaise, lime juice salt, and pepper it’s something that most kids will like to eat. We loved making these crab croissandwiches, it’s a fun alternative to offer kids if they have a friend over for a playdate, and are ideal if you plan a weekend at the beach!
To get them to look like crabs, you just need to pick out simple croissants that have the tips facing forward. For the eyes we used plastic eyes we found at the craft store, we taped them to toothpicks.
The recipe below is the basic tuna recipe we use at home. We like to go heavy on the ginger because it gives it a fresh flavor, but you can use as much or as little as you like, or omit it altogether. Not everybody likes ginger. You can use the same recipe, and substitute the tune for crab meat, which you can find at the frozen section in your supermarket (the artificial kind)
At Almacenes Siman, we found these blue melamine dishes, which are suitable for serving children without worrying about accidents. For the drink, we loved these glasses with a palm tree-shaped lid and straw that have a very tropical look that goes very well with our crab croissandwiches.
