Happy Hour: Negroni

This post is also available in / Esta entrada también está disponible en ESPAÑOL (SPANISH)

If you are looking for a sophisticated drink to sip on summer days, try this recipe for the classic continental cocktail: the Negroni. It is said that the drink originated in Italy, when Count Camillo Negroni asked the bartender to strengthen his favorite cocktail, the Americano, by adding gin rather than the normal soda water.

Negroni

Negronis are made by mixing equal parts of gin, vermouth and campari. The vermouth used is the sweet, red one. Use 1 ounce of each, and serve it in a short glass filled with ice. It is typically garnished with a slice of orange, or a curl of orange peel.

We love the ruby color of this drink, and that it’s suck an easy recipe to learn!  It’s a strong drink, so if needed you can dilute it a bit by adding a splash of soda water at the end.

Give it a try, and let us know what you think!
