Tips for Bento Lunchboxes

We found some neat little tools for kids lunchboxes at a local Guatemalan store called Kidz Gadgets & More. They have a  really cool and wide variety of, well… gadgets for kids, that go from bento lunchbox items, bathroom and bedroom items to the latest craze in toys.

We got this practical bento style lunchbox container that is expandable. We really loved the deep spaces which make it perfect to neatly pack different food items without one accidentally getting into the space of another.  Sometimes, I pack fruit and a piece will somehow find its way into the space that holds the crackers, resulting in a salty and crumbly piece of fruit, a soggy cracker, and an annoyed kid.

This is also great to pack your office snacks as well! It would neatly hold a salad and fruit.

The second item we tried out are sandwich cutters which include a design to emboss them. We tried them out to make peanut butter sandwiches using white bread; because of its texture, this is the best type of bread to use with any sandwich cutter. It worked great! To give it a little something extra, we used our edible food marker to go over the embossed design. You can find these types of markers at bakery stores.

The cutters can also be used to cut shapes out of ham, cheese, tortillas or fruits such as melon. They are especially useful for smaller kids that won’t eat a whole sandwich.

To put it all together, we created a lunchbox that included a mix of tangerines and grapes, crackers and cheese, and small flower and rabbit shaped peanut butter and Nutella sandwiches.

You can find these items at Kitz Gadgets & More.
