Homemade Hot Chocolate

Kids are on vacation, the weather is cooler – and all we want to do is grab a blanket and catch up on Netflix. This recipe is perfect for those late afternoons. You can even halve it if you want to make a small batch, but our suggestion would be making the full recipe, and then store the rest for later.

Homemade Hot Chocolate

We love finding different types of hot chocolate recipes: the classic Guatemalan Hot Chocolate, a homemade Hot Chocolate instant mix, a Hot Chocolate made in a French Press… and even a Spiked version for grownups. If you’re not into Chocolate, you can whip a Hot Vanilla for a change.

Homemade Hot Chocolate

We found everything we needed to make this recipe at Almacenes Siman: a small pot, the glass cups and a set of tablecloths, along a Thermal Carafe that’s great to keep your hot chocolate warm! And to top it off, always serve topped with marshmallows and it will be a hit!

Homemade Hot Chocolate

Recipe from Ashlee Marie

Ingredients:
¼ cup of unsweetened cocoa
½ cup of sugar
½ teaspoon of salt
⅓ cup of water
4 cups of whole milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla
marshmallows to serve

Procedure:

  1. Mix the dry ingredients in a small saucepan. Make sure you break off the cocoa and mix it well with the sugar.
  2. Add the water, mix with a whisk and bring to a boil. Keep it boiling for one minute, then add the milk and mix well.
  3. Heat until it reaches your prefered temperature.
  4. Take off the heat and add the vanilla, stir and serve topped with marshmallows immediately.
