Little Foodies: Halloween Monster Donuts

These Monster Donuts will probably be the easiest, fastest and cutest Halloween treat you could ever prepare. We are so glad we stumbled into this idea… we simply had to share it with you. We know you will be including these for your Halloween party! All you need are donuts, some M&M’s and plastic fangs.

Little Foodies: Halloween Monster Donuts

We used Dunkin Donuts’ glazed variety, the original recipe suggests that you use the glazed kind, because they are sturdier. We have found this to be true, so we didn’t even try to make these with other flavors. The pressure from the fangs might break your donuts apart. As far are those go, we got ours at the local dollar store, they are not firm but rather soft and flexible. And, they happen to be glow in the dark! To make the eyes, you can choose from candy eyes, skittles or M&M’s. We liked the idea of using M&M’s, they make our donut monsters look scarier.

You can use melted chocolate to stick the eyes to your donut, but since we wanted this to be as easy as possible, we used peanut butter. You can also use Nutella or frosting, if you have it around. Whatever will make the eyes stick.

This is a great project to make with the kids for a Halloween movie night! So get your popcorn, and head out to get some donuts to make them for the weekend.  We love watching Disney’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, or Hocus Pocus.

Have fun!

Halloween Monster Donuts

Idea from One Little Project

Ingredients:
sugar glazed donuts
M&M’s
peanut butter (a small amount, to stick the eyes)
Plastic fangs

Procedure:

  1. Set your donuts, fangs, M&M’s and peanut butter on your working area, so you have everything ready.
  2. Take one of the fangs and squish them up and pinch them together to get them into the donut hole. Just push it into the hole and let it open up on its own. Then adjust it as you need to. The fangs we got are pretty flexible, try to get that kind, rather than more solid ones. Repeat with all your donuts.
  3. Next, place the eyes. With the tip of a chopstick, or the tip of a small spoon, dab a bit of peanut butter on one side of an M&M and place on the donut, where the eyes should be. That’s it!
