Little Foodies: Donut Hole & Berry Skewers

This post is also available in / Esta entrada también está disponible en ESPAÑOL (SPANISH)

We have a fun recipe your kids can prepare for a snack at home.  These fruity skewers are very easy, and for the smaller children, it’s a good exercise to practice pattern concepts they are learning at school. All you need are donut holes, which you can find at your favorite donut shop, and berries such as blackberries, strawberries or raspberries. Whichever you like best… Oh, and you can use pineapple too.

At the end, when the skewers are all finished, they are drizzled with a little melted semi-sweet chocolate. So it’s easier for little hands to do it, place the melted chocolate inside a small Ziploc bag, make sure it’s securely closed from the top so the chocolate doesn’t come out. Open a small hole in one of the corners, so they can squeeze the chocolate out and drizzle away.

Kids will love making these skewers as much as they will love eating them. Our little chef enjoyed the Playground at Almacenes Siman after making hers. They were delicious!

At Almacenes Siman Guatemala we found this set of 3 long white plates (perfect for serving our skewers), a colorful aqua placemat, and the set of three Cake Boss bowls with an anti-slip base to melt the chocolate. We also got the square glass bowl set with wooden base, which was used to set our ingredients in, and at home they are perfect for dips and olives. To protect the clothes, we used one of the aprons that are found at the home and kitchen area.
