Kale chips are still trendy, and we have to say… they really are delicious. Now you can make them at home with this simple recipe! You just need to keep a few tips in mind to get restaurant quality results: After washing your kale leaves you have to let them dry completely and you must coat them lightly but evenly with olive oil, this will ensure a crisp chip. Another tip, is that when putting them on the baking sheet, try to put them in one layer.
For basic kale chips you can use only olive oil and salt, but in addition to this you can use variations such as:
- sprinkle with lime zest
- garlic powder
- pepper or garam masala.
- paprika and chili powder is another spice combination you can try, or how about a sprinkling of parmesan cheese?
Whenever I make a batch, they last about 15 minutes! Trust us, you’ll love them. And, they are good for you.

Kale Chips
Serves 1-2
Recipe adapted from The Busy Baker
Ingredients:
1 bunch of fresh kale
Olive oil
Salt
Procedure:
- Preheat your oven to 300ºF.
- Wash and dry one bunch of kale, making sure the leaves are completely dry.
- Rip the leaves off the stems and away from the chewy veins of the kale and into chip-sized pieces.
- Arrange the pieces of kale on an unlined baking sheet and drizzle the olive oil as evenly over the kale as possible. Using your hands, gently massage the oil into the kale leaves, making sure to massage the oil well into all the folds and onto the entire surface of each of the kale leaves. If you find you need a tiny bit more oil, add it one drop at a time to avoid soggy chips.
- Once you’ve finished massaging the kale, sprinkle a pinch or two of sea salt over the kale and add the pan to your preheated oven.
- Bake for 10 minutes. Rotate the pan, flipping any pieces that are starting to look crispy and bake for another 10-15 minutes, watching the pan closely for the last 7-8 minutes to prevent over browning.
- Remove the pan from the oven and leave the kale chips on the pan for 3-5 minutes before serving to they can crisp up even more!
