Do you know about Restaurant Week? Well, turns out that it’s when the best restaurants of the city it is held in offer fixed priced menus for lunch and dinner, at a more accessible price range than usual. These menus include an appetizer, entrée and dessert. And very soon you will be able to enjoy Restaurant Week in our very own Guatemala City, joining other cities across the world.

This type of event is held since 1995, starting in New York City. Now, it’s a well established event in great cities as Buenos Aires, Mexico DF, Paris, Barcelona and London. Even though the name makes reference to a single week timeline, this even usually extends over more than a week, to give more people the opportunity to visit all the participating restaurants.
Restaurant Week Guatemala will be from August 28 (Wednesday) to September 8 (Sunday), with 16 of the best and most exclusive restaurants in the city:
All of the restaurants offer the lunch menu at Q150 and the dinner menu at Q200. These prices do not include beverages or tips. The menus for all of the 16 restaurants are available at www.guatedining.com/restaurantweek
This event is organized by GuateDining, the Guatemalan restaurant guide. GuateDining‘s goal is to lead Guatemalans to the best restaurants in the city, educate them on gastronomic culture, and to help restaurants achieve world-class quality.
In this first edition of Restaurant Week Guatemala, GuateDining and the restaurants have the support of Credomatic. And as a nice surprise, those customers who pay with Credomatic cards will get a 20% discount.
To get the most out of Restaurant Week, we have a few suggestions for you:
- Reservations: since this is the first time Restaurant Week is held in Guatemala, many of us will want to head out and try a new restaurant, so to avoid surprises, we suggest that after you choose the restaurant you want to go, then call ahead to make the reservation. This way, you’ll know that your table will be waiting for you and your party so you can enjoy this gastronomic festival.
- Schedules: Verify both the days and hours of the restaurant, because some of the restaurants close once a week. Better safe than sorry!
- Pricing: The event has a prix-fixe, or fixed price of
Q150.00 for lunch and Q200.00 for dinner. This price does not include drinks or tips.
- Service: Even though we are getting a special price for the meal during Restaurant Week, all of the restaurants are giving their best service, from food to customer service. If you receive a good service from them, let them know leaving a generous tip. They must be recognized for their hard work!
