Summer is at its peak in Guatemala, and after relaxing last week we are back with batteries charged… And still working on that surprise that Helga mentioned before. April 2013 Wallpaper Collection features Watermelon.
Watermelon is a vine-like flowering plant originally from southern Africa. Its fruit is also called watermelon and has a smooth exterior rind (green, yellow and sometimes white) and a juicy, sweet interior flesh (usually deep red to pink, but sometimes orange, yellow and even green if not ripe). It is cousins to cucumbers, pumpkins and squash. Watermelon is 92% water and early explorers used watermelons as canteens.
Here are a few tips to pick a good watermelon:
- Look the watermelon over. You are looking for a firm, symmetrical watermelon that is free from bruises, cuts or dents.
- Lift it up. The watermelon should be heavy for its size. Watermelon is 92% water, most of the weight is water.
- Turn it over. The underside of the watermelon should have a creamy yellow spot from where it sat on the ground and ripened in the sun.
